LDP lawmaker Stephen Pirpiliu will introduce an amendment to the law on the management of stray dogs, which wants to enable the mayor to quickly get rid of stray dogs.
More: sick stray dogs will be killed! - Internal News | Libertatea.ro"We talked with several veterinarians, who I have confirmed that over 75% ofstray dogs are sick and can harm people who come into contact with them. These animals are very dangerous and must be euthanized. For this reason, as well as local authorities can set up a state of emergency, where necessary, to remove the danger of disease population, "said Pirpiliu.
In this respect, he will submit to the law on the management of stray dogs, an amendment to be d iscussed in public administration committee of the Chamber of Deputies. PLEASE SPEAK OUT AGAINST BURNING OF LIVE LEOPARD IN UTTARAKHAND, INDIA!
Dear Friends: India fails yet another big cat. This poor animal was sequestered in a shed, beaten, caged, then doused with karosene and set afire to burn to death while still alive. The footage is shocking and heartbreaking. Though there are conflicting accounts, wildlife officers were present and did nothing to intervene.
Please express your outrage to the governor of Uttarakhand at
www.governoruk.gov.in/writetogovernor
and demand that she locate the park officials and villagers that conspired to murder the cat and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. We need to put pressure on India to stop this madness!

dog raped and killed
There is nothing strange about finding a raped dog in Turkey.
It happens everywhere and you only have to spend some time on Facebook to discover many many cases, sometimes on a daily basis.
But this case is a little different. The end result is the same, a dog is raped by a human and is killed afterwards… what is different is the LOCATION of the crime.
The rape took place right behind the building of the Sincan Municipality in Ankara.
A few meters away from a building constantly surveiled by security a dog is being raped, his screams are loud, can be heard from the distance…
But nobody did anything…
Please call the office of the mayor Mustafa Tuna on:
Mustafa Tuna (DIRECT LINE) : +90 3122693830
email (he checks them himself): mustafatuna@sincan.bel.tr
Tell him dogs are being raped behind his office. Tell him to today was a dog, tomorrow could be a little girl or a boy…

Around fifty years ago, German company Hoechst Schering AgrEvo patented what was then perceived to be a new 'wonder' chemical pesticide – endosulfan. This, they believed, could be used on almost all crops and could selectively pick its way through the application zone, eliminating pests but leaving useful insects unscathed.
Sadly this has not been the case. Fast forward a few decades, and endosulfan has come out of patent, and generic versions are being produced and sold around the world, mainly in developing countries. All but one of the top ten cotton producing countries used it and other regular uses include on soy, rice, wheat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, coffee and tobacco crops.
There has been growing concern internationally about the unintentional consequences of endosulfan. This has triggered a wave of national bans on the pesticide, and in 2011 the future manufacture and use of the pesticide is under debate.
Since last year, endosulfan, like DDT, has been officially classed as a Persistent Organic Pollutant (POP). POPs take a very long time to break down naturally once they have been released into the environment, and they can be transported over long distances. Traces of endosulfan have been found in the blood of polar bears in Svalbard, the blubber of minke whales and even in grasses on Mt. Everest.
All pesticides are hazardous by design, manufactured with the sole aim of killing, repelling or inhibiting the growth of organisms, and those which are POPs are particularly noted for their high toxicity. Endosulfan is no exception.
Endosulfan is readily absorbed through human skin, the stomach and lungs and acute exposure can be fatal. The National Poison Control Information Center of the Philippines recorded 278 poisonings including 85 deaths due to endosulfan in 1990 and more recently, in 2008, five school-age boys died in Jharkhand, India, after drinking contaminated milk.
The stories of fatal accidental exposure are almost always in developing countries, and always devastating for the families and community of those lost. The Pesticide Action Network reported one such story where a father in Benin had come back from working in the fields and left his pesticide-soaked work clothes on the roof of his house to keep them safely out of reach from his young children. Overnight it rained, and water from the roof ran over his clothes and down into the family's water containers. The next morning the children used the water for drinking and washing. Within minutes they suffered headaches, nausea and convulsions. Within 20 hours, all four children were dead.
Chronic endosulfan exposure has been linked to severe physical deformities, delayed reproductive development, suppressed immunity, renal failure, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, increased risk of Parkinson's Disease and infertility.
Unborn children and infants are particularly vulnerable because endosulfan accumulates in placental tissue, umbilical cord blood and breast milk.
This is a worldwide concern: despite domestic bans on its use, it has been found in samples from women living in countries including Denmark, Finland, Spain, and the US.
Endosulfan is also devastating to livestock and wildlife.
Run-off from fields has emptied life from large stretches of rivers, and spraying has resulted in severe declines in beneficial insects. Kerala Agricultural University recently published their findings that within a day of endosulfan being applied to cardamom plants, honey bees in Idukki had shown symptoms of poisoning and colony populations had declined.
There are proven, effective, economically-viable and socially sustainable alternatives for all uses of endosulfan. Recognising this and the huge body of scientific evidence against the continued use of endosulfan, more than 70 countries have now announced national bans. These include Brazil, Colombia, Cote d'Ivoire, Indonesia, Australia and all EU countries.
When announcing the US phase out, the US EPA highlighted that "endosulfan poses unacceptable risks to agricultural workers and wildlife" and that it simply cannot be applied safely for the majority of its uses.
However, because of its persistence, no country can protect its people from endosulfan until a global ban is in place. This could be achieved by listing endosulfan under Annex A of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), with no exemptions made for any of its uses.
Last year, the Stockholm Convention Scientific Committee (POPRC) made the recommendation that endosulfan be globally restricted. National parties to the convention will make the final decision on this in Geneva next month.
We are very close to a global ban on endosulfan, but first it is necessary to persuade the handful of countries in opposition it is the right action to take. Opposition is being led by the Indian delegation, the same government that is the owner and beneficiary of one of the world's top endosulfan manufacturers.
Please show your support to governments putting people and planet before profit by signing EJF's petition for a global ban on endosulfan.

Animal Legal Defense Fund Demands Clarification of Pet Evacuation Policies for U.S. Military Families in Japan
Desperate Pleas from Fearful Military Pet Owners Prompt Inquiries to Departments of Defense, StateAs the first U.S. charter flights evacuating the families of military personnel begin to leave Japan, the Animal Legal Defense Fund is asking Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to clarify the U.S. government’s policy on whether or not military families can bring their pets with them—or must be forced to choose between staying in harm’s way and abandoning a beloved companion. ALDF has received desperate emails from the families of active military in Japan, terrified of what fate awaits their animals if, as they have recently been informed, pets will not be allowed on evacuation planes chartered by the U.S. Department of State.
The increasing threat of radioactivity in the wake of last week’s unprecedented earthquake and tsunami have led the military to begin voluntary evacuations today for the families of U.S. military stationed in Japan. It is at the discretion of the agencies overseeing these evacuations whether or not to allow pets—beloved family members to hundreds of U.S. military families in Japan—to evacuate with their owners.
“In a context of terrifying natural and nuclear disasters, with military personnel and their families already being separated from each other, we would hope that the U.S. government would not place an additional burden on military families by disregarding the very real bonds they have with their animal companions,” says Carter Dillard, ALDF’s director of litigation. “It is our hope that the tragedy of people forced to abandon beloved pets in order to evacuate to safety, which we saw play out on a heartbreaking scale during Hurricane Katrina, is not replicated during the current crisis in Japan.”
A copy of ALDF’s letter to the Department of State and the Department of Defense follows.
March 17, 2011
Hillary Clinton
Secretary of State
U.S. Department of State

Washington, DC 20520
Robert M. Gates
Secretary of Defense
U.S. Department of Defense

Washington, DC 20301
Dear Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Gates:
The Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) has been contacted by family members of active duty U.S. military personnel stationed in Japan who are deeply concerned that they will not be allowed to bring their companion animals with them should they choose to leave the country as part of the voluntary evacuations authorized today. News stories corroborate their fears that pets will not be allowed on the State Department’s charter flights out of the country.
According to U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Department of State official policy guidance (Annex M of the November, 2005, Joint Plan for DOD Noncombatant Evacuation and Repatriation), it “is clear that ‘pets usually cannot be accommodated on an evacuation flight.’” ALDF is respectfully writing to inquire as to how the policy is now being applied to the evacuations underway in Japan.
According to the desperate emails ALDF has received from families stationed in Japan, many are hesitant to evacuate from the escalating radiation danger because they do not wish to leave behind their beloved pets.
ALDF has been told by the families of military personnel in Japan that veterinary clinic hours have been extended so that health certificates necessary for departure from the country can be obtained for these animals. However, should pets be denied passage with their families on evacuation flights, an uncertain—and likely, grim—fate awaits the hundreds of pets of U.S. active duty military personnel who are remaining in the country of Japan to assist with relief efforts.
The tragedy of Americans in the midst of disaster being forced to choose between leaving their beloved animals and remaining in harm’s way spurred significant legislation in the wake of Hurricane Katrina—2006’s Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act—designed to ensure that families can evacuate without leaving behind their four-legged members. Americans consider their pets members of their family; they should not have to choose between fleeing the current danger in Japan and abandoning their animals. Please clarify for us how the United States government intends to apply its policies regarding pet evacuation to avoid compounding the already-heartrending circumstances for these military families.
Sincerely,
Carter Dillard

Dog Refuses+to+Leave+Friend+Injured+in+Tsunami: http://www.care2.com/greenliving/dog-refuses-to-leave-friend-injured-in-tsunami.html
A Golden Retriever and a Maltese may seem like an odd couple, but Indy and Katie were as close as two dogs could be. After spending their days together, Katie would sleep on Indy’s back each night, her four-pound body rising and falling with his snores. “It was adorable,” says their owner, Karen Wolkenberg of Roslyn, NY. But at fourteen years old, Indy’s health deteriorated, and the family had to put him to sleep. Immediately after, the normally sweet-natured Katie, who at age ten had grown up with Indy, turned nasty, refusing to eat and urinating all over the house. “I’d look at her and think, What’s going on?” Wolkenberg says. “Then it finally hit me that she was grieving.”
Pet care mistakes even good owners make.
Losing a pet is always difficult for an owner, but it can be equally hard on the household’s canine companions. Dogs in particular feel the loss of a fellow pet, as they are pack animals who enjoy being surrounded by friends. In fact, a study from the ASPCA found that two-thirds of dogs show recognizable signs of grieving, such as a decrease in appetite, clinginess, and lethargy. I’ve also found that some dogs whine and bark more or sleep in unusual places–this type of attention-seeking behavior may happen because the dog has pent-up “play energy” that he’s not able to release with a friend. “The good news is that in most cases, these changes resolve in a couple of weeks,” says Stephen Zawistowski, PhD, an author on the ASPCA study.
Help your dog recover by spending time together: Take longer walks, cuddle more, or devote an extra twenty minutes to throw around a tennis ball.
If your pet won’t eat, don’t tempt her with human comfort food like pizza or ice cream. Instead, stoke her appetite by minimizing stress (no houseguests or changes to her territory) and offering doggy treats.
You can leave the former dog’s bed and toys for consistency during the transition, but remove the bowl so she doesn’t feel a sense of competition for food. Try taking your dog to a dog park. If she looks like she wants to play, schedule some doggy playdates. But if she stays away from other animals, then respect her need for alone time. And even if she’s mopey, encourage her to take short walks. I also tell my patients’ owners that it’s fine to invite an extraclingy dog to share their bed.
Animals are sensitive to human emotions, so try to minimize extravagant displays of grief in front of your dog. If you’re tempted to replace the pet that died, hold off. I advise waiting two or three months to make new additions, in order to give the dog (and you!) time to adjust. Your pooch is accustomed to his former companion, so introducing an attention-seeking, hyperactive puppy can be physically and emotionally stressful. Even an older, more mellow dog might be taxing, as your pet will feel the need to fight for turf and pecking order.
Train Yourself: The 3 Rules of healthy petiquette.
No one knows how long a dog’s memory is, but based on anecdotal evidence, I believe dogs do remember companions for some time. That said, while the process may take a few weeks or even months, almost all of my patients’ owners notice a return to normal activity. If grieving signs last longer, bring your pet to the vet to rule out underlying medical problems, the timing of which could be coincidental.

Welcome to the world of voiceless MY FRIENDS -- Lets speak for the voiceless now and always.....
Its not that they need us ..we need them too.As we are the part of this environment , a species who has most developed mind with all the faculties of expressions. The animals don't have the power to speak and we are the ones who have to speak for them. Living in our vicinity we understand them ,there needs and they understand us.
I will keep you posted .
